Cinderella Missed The Ball

I was recently looking for a cleaning service to come clean my home a couple of times a month.  About the time I was researching companies to call, I received one of those coupon packets in the mail and inside was an ad for a cleaning service.  They had a nice ad, the name of the company, being named after a famous young woman who was forced to clean all day but turned into a princess on the night of the ball, grabbed my attention and I decided to call them.  The first time I called the local number on the ad I got silence, a series of clicks and then it disconnected me.  I thought I might have dialed the number wrong, so I tried again.  No luck.

The next day, I tried the number again.  This time it rang a couple of times and then was filled with static.

By the third day I had already decided to go with a different cleaning company.  However, I felt it was my duty to tell them that their phone system had cost them a potential customer.  I dialed the number again and was greeted with a piercing fax tone in my ear.

Here was a company that had spent hundreds of dollars on an ad and then could not get any of the calls that it generated.  I felt bad for them.  Many people would not have even tried a second time to reach them.  People are too busy and impatient.  They want, what they want, when they want it and you need to be available to give it to them.  Even if I had not already chosen a different company, and had been able to get through on the 3rd day, I already had an impression of a company that was unreliable.  Regardless of whether or not the phone problems were their fault, it gave their company an unprofessional image.  If I have ever seen a case of someone needing a virtual pbx, this was it.
